For the ones that wanted to know: Jasper Moran, played by Christopher Villiers, appeared in Young Sherlock:The Mystery of the Manor House. This was a 8-episode television series about the youthful years of Sherlock Holmes. The show was produced by Granada Television and premiered on 31 October 1982. To be honest, I found it a bit dull, but you can find it on youtube. Sebastian doesn’t appear at all, by the way.

So, not ACD-canon, but adaption-canon, I guess. But look at that sassy aristocratic beauty. ~~Sebastian and Severin would tear him apart.~~

In Hounds of the D’Urbervilles (also adaption-canon, I guess) Sebastian mentions he has two sisters, Augusta and Christabelle. He doesn’t say much about them, just mentions them a few times in passing, namely that they sent him knitted socks and cardigans every year for his birthday when he was out of the country or at Eton (he recounts a story about a cardigan Augusta made for him on his twelfth birthday; it unravelled because of a dropped stitch).

He also tells a story about another birthday of his, his ninth or tenth, when he thought he saw a ghost, and clearly remembers that “Mama told me to shut up about it – though Augusta and Christabelle were agog for details, the more hair-raising the better.”

They were unmarried, so I guess they’re younger, although Sebastian says they’re “hymn-singing old trouts”, so nobody wants them. I believe on top of my head that’s all he tells about them.

If we’re talking Moran siblings, there’s an older brother, Rawdon (known as ‘Hunter’, and also inexplicably referred to at times by Mycroft as ‘Randy’) Moran, in Donald Thomas’s novel Death on a Pale Horse too, but almost everything about him is taken (at times literally lifted directly) from the canonical details about Sebastian Moran so I’m not sure what the point of trying to make out he’s an original character was (except I assume Thomas needed to kill the character off in the 1880s and therefore couldn’t use Sebastian, but in that case he could have least made an effort to make Rawdon distinct from Sebastian).

(I was pretty disappointed by the book, usually Donald Thomas’s Holmes pastiches are some of the better ones but perhaps he should stick to the short stories because I really didn’t think much of this at all.)

His hair colour isn’t mentioned in canon except that his moustache is described as “grizzled”, so probably at the point he appears his hair generally is grey or going grey (which also fits with Watson describing him as old/elderly even though he’s only in his fifties). What colour it was originally though is anyone’s guess.
